If the said vendor were an authorized dealer, the story would be different. I assume your local vendor isn't an authorized dealer, because if it were, they would get shipments all the time, and you won't have to deal with the shipment costs. Anyway, because you purchased from someone who isn't an authorized dealer and you did not have an authorized installer do the installation, they don't cover anything. In either case, labor isn't something that is normally covered under warranty, even if you had an authorized installer do the install. It just ensures that the manufacturer can't say the malfunction was due to improper installation. In your case, all the manufacturer has to do is to replace the part in question. They don't owe you anything outside of that. It is also not up to them to show you empathy for your hard troubleshooting. I don't know what the warranty time is, but just be glad that they even replaced the defective part even after 3 years.
